Portland, Oregon Colleges and Universities

  • Art Institute of Portland.  "The mission of The Art Institute of Portland is undergraduate design education. Degree programs at the college include both liberal education and professional education. Instructional programs require course work in communications, the humanities, the social sciences, the natural sciences and mathematics; they also prepare students for entry-level positions in design fields by focusing on the demands of professional practice. The college is dedicated to personal service. It also seeks to be an innovative center for design, a lively supporter of the arts, and a positive community partner in the city of Portland, the state of Oregon, and the greater Pacific Northwest."
  • Lewis and Clark College.  "A Lewis & Clark education isn’t like anything you could experience anywhere else. We’re a private institution with a public conscience, a residential campus with global reach. Students and faculty throughout all three of Lewis & Clark’s schools—the College of Arts and Sciences, the Graduate School of Education and Counseling, and the Law School—pursue new ways of knowing by combining classic liberal learning with pioneering collaboration.

Our students represent the next generation of global thinkers and leaders, unafraid to discard conventional thinking, civic complacency, and outmoded preconceptions. Yet they value what Lewis & Clark offers: an education built from the time-tested elements of careful study, original research, and spirited debate."
  • Pacific Northwest College of Art.  "Since its founding in 1909, Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) has become a leader in innovative educational programs that connect students to a global perspective in the visual arts and design. In addition to its nine Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees, PNCA offers graduate education with an MFA in Applied Craft and Design developed in collaboration with the Oregon College of Art and Craft, an MFA in Collaborative Design, an MFA in Visual Studies and a Low-Residency MFA in Visual Studies.

PNCA is actively involved in Portland’s cultural life through exhibitions and a vibrant public program of lectures and internationally recognized visiting artists, designers and creative thinkers. With the support of FIVE (Ford Institute for Visual Education), the College has a partnership with the nationally acclaimed Museum of Contemporary Craft."
  • Portland Community College.  "Wherever you're coming from and wherever you're going in life, Portland Community College probably has the classes and programs to get you there. Our unique role is to make high-quality education accessible to everyone, creating opportunities for our students and contributing to the economic development of our community."
  • Portland State University.  "At Portland State University, our students and faculty take the classroom to the community. In Senior Capstones, students team up with local organizations to tackle civic challenges. That program is one of the reasons U.S News & World Report and The Princeton Review rank PSU among the nation’s best.

With more than 220 degree options that include renowned programs in urban planning, social work, business, sustainability, and undergraduate studies, Portland State meets the needs of Oregon’s largest and most diverse student body. And through engaged teaching and research, we make a difference in Oregon and around the world."
  • Oregon State University.  "Oregon State University has always been a place with a purpose — making a positive difference in quality of life, natural resources and economic prosperity in Oregon and beyond. Through discovery, innovation and application, we are meeting challenges, solving problems and turning ideas into reality.
  • Reed College. "Reed College was founded in 1908 in Portland, Oregon, as an independent, coeducational, nonsectarian college of the liberal arts and sciences. Reed provides one of the nation’s most intellectually rigorous undergraduate experiences, with a highly structured academic program balancing broad distribution requirements and in-depth study in a chosen academic discipline. Social life at Reed consists of a wide variety of on- and off-campus opportunities for diversion, including art, music, theatre, lectures, movies, and sports. The list of activities and organizations is long and constantly growing—with every activity open to all."
